A plain-English walkthrough of every privacy setting in Talkmax - last seen, read receipts, profile, and more.
Privacy settings should be obvious. If you have to read a 4,000-word policy to figure out who can see your last-seen status, the setting failed. Here's a plain-English walkthrough of every Talkmax privacy control, where to find it, and what it actually does.
Controls who can see when you were last on Talkmax. Three options: Everyone, My contacts, or Nobody. If you pick Nobody, you also won't see anyone else's last seen - Talkmax keeps this reciprocal to keep things fair.
Find it under Settings → Privacy → Last seen & online.
The two blue checkmarks that show your message has been read. Turning these off in Talkmax turns them off both ways - you stop sending them, and you stop seeing them in your own chats. Group chats are an exception: read receipts in groups always work, since they help admins see who's caught up.
Each of these has its own visibility control: Everyone, My contacts, My contacts except…, or Nobody. The "except" option is useful when you want a public profile but a private circle for status updates.
A small setting that prevents a big annoyance. Set it to "My contacts" so strangers can't pull you into spammy group chats. People who aren't your contacts can still invite you with a request, which you can accept or ignore.
A six-digit PIN that's required when your Talkmax account is registered on a new phone. This is the single biggest thing you can do to protect your account from SIM-swap attacks. Set it up under Settings → Account → Two-step verification - it takes about 60 seconds.
Blocked contacts can't message you, call you, see your last seen, or see your profile. They also won't be told they've been blocked - the experience on their end looks the same as you being offline. Block from any chat by tapping the contact name → Block.
Every chat and channel has a report option. Reports go to our trust and safety team and are reviewed within 24 hours for messages and 4 hours for live calls. You can exit a group at any time, and Talkmax never tells the group you reported anyone.
See every device signed in to your Talkmax account - and remotely log out any that shouldn't be there. Check this under Settings → Account → Active sessions any time something feels off.
Privacy controls are only useful if you know they exist. Bookmark this page, or open Settings → Privacy on your phone right now and walk through them once. Five minutes today saves a lot of awkward conversations later.
